“Taken for Granted”
Did you know that according to thesaurus.com “an idiot is a stupid person with a mental age below three years, while a moron is a stupid person with a mental age of between seven to twelve years?” And here I was thinking calling someone a moron was worse than than calling them an idiot! It at least sounds funnier…but not as funny to me as calling someone a half-wit (although it was a close call for today’s strip between half-wit and “dunderhead,” also a funny word)! Today’s strip came about because my brother Doug and I were talking about how funny it would be to tell people that you were nominating yourself for a genius grant. But with a quick Google search mid-conversation, it turned out that you can’t apply for the grant anyway, which made me think it would be even funnier to still try to nominate yourself anyway (now I just need to find their phone number)…

Mike Gray (Nicktoon’s Thom Cat) Join Mike for this step-by-step presentation on the entire process of creating, pitching, selling, and producing an animated short. Focus will be on the development of his character Thom Cat from a comic book to storyboard pitch to successfully produced animated short for the Random Cartoons show on Nicktoons. Also covering the development process of the short The Infinite Goliath (co-created with Erik Knutson) also for Nicktoons, including a screening of both animated shorts, and followed by an Q&A session.
I will be a guest at Sac-Con on Sunday March 7, 2010 from 10am to 5pm, and
I will be at Wondercon in Artist’s Alley on April 2-4th, 2010 in San Francisco at the Moscone Center, and then I will be the Cartoonist-in-residence at the Charles Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa on Saturday May 8th…if you can make it to one or both, I would love to see you there!
